Amy Coney Barrett Parents: Father Michael Coney & Mother Linda Coney: Family Tree & Siblings

Amy Coney Barrett was born to her parents, Linda (née Vath) and Michael Coney, on January 28, 1972, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Barrett, an American lawyer and jurist, is known for her conservative beliefs, big family, and Catholic faith. She has served as an associate member of the United States Supreme Court since October 27, 2020.

President Donald Trump nominated her, making her the fifth woman to serve on the Court. Barrett formerly served as a Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit from 2017 to 2020.

She graduated from Rhodes College and received a J.D. with distinction from Notre Dame Law School in 1997.

Barrett worked as a clerk for Judge Laurence Silberman and Justice Antonin Scalia after graduating. She joined the Notre Dame Law School faculty in 2002, rising to the rank of professor by 2010.

Barrett’s candidacy to the Supreme Court was contentious because of its proximity to the 2020 presidential election and the Senate’s previous refusal to schedule hearings for Merrick Garland in 2016.

Despite opposition from Democrats and one Republican, she was approved by the United States Senate by a vote of 52-48.

Barrett, described as Justice Scalia’s protégé, believes in textualism in legislative interpretation and originalism in constitutional interpretation. She is usually regarded as one of the Court’s conservative bloc.
