What Happened To Her And Her Boyfriend Aaron Quinn?

Denise Huskins Wikipedia: In March 2015, Denise Huskins and her then-boyfriend now husband, Aaron Quinn, experienced a traumatic incident when armed intruders woke them in the middle of the night.

These intruders, purposefully dressed in scuba suits, used zip ties to bind the couple and confined them to a closet in Aaron’s Vallejo, California, residence.

While in the closet, they were drugged and blindfolded with blacked-out goggles. The assailants claimed to be part of a well-organized, highly-trained group involved in collecting financial debt.

The attackers intended to kidnap Denise and demand a ransom for her safe return. Thus, she was taken hostage to a remote location. Huskins was drugged and raped twice by her predator.

She was eventually released two days later on March 25, near her mother’s home in Huntington Beach, California.

Meanwhile, Aaron recounted the horrible experience to the Vallejo police. Despite his consistent narrative of the events, the police did not believe his story. Instead, they regarded him as the primary suspect in what they assumed to be Denise’s murder.

Even after Denise was released, the police continued to publicly express skepticism about the couple’s narrative. In a press conference, they declared that the story didn’t add up.

The case gained attention, though inappropriately, as the “Gone Girl” kidnapping, drawing parallels to the popular book and movie where a woman stages her own abduction.

After enduring such a saddening experience, it took three months and a stroke of luck before the couple saw some measure of justice.

In June 2015, during an investigation into a case involving a masked intruder approximately 40 miles away in Alameda County, California, law enforcement discovered evidence related to Denise and Aaron’s situation.

This evidence was found in the possession of ‘Matthew Muller,’ a former Marine and disbarred immigration attorney who had graduated from Harvard.

Matthew Muller entered a guilty plea in 2016 for one count of federal kidnapping, resulting in a 40-year prison sentence.

He also faced additional state charges, including kidnapping, two counts of rape by force, robbery, and burglary. However, in November 2020, he was deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial.

Denise and Aaron took legal action against the City of Vallejo, accusing them of defamation. In 2018, they won a $2.5 million settlement.

In 2021, the couple co-authored a book titled “Victim F: From Crime Victims to Suspects to Survivors,” collaborating with former PEOPLE senior writer Nicole Weisensee Egan.
