Kelvin Kiptum Cheruiyot was born to his parents on December 2nd, 1999, in Chepsamo, Chepkorio, Kenya.
Kiptum’s father’s name is Samson Cheruiyot; however, his mother’s name has not been disclosed. Kelvin Kiptum was the sole son of his parents.
After Kelvin’s birth, his mother encountered complications, leading doctors to advise against any future pregnancies.
Samson Cheruiyot, Kelvin’s father, worked as a farmer in Kenya. During Kelvin’s youth, Kelvin spent his days herding his family’s cattle and often trailed barefoot runners along the forest paths.
Kelvin Kiptum parents envisioned him as an electrical engineer, however, Kelvin declared his passion for running and his desire to pursue it as a career.

Kelvin Kiptum : What Was The Cause Of His Death?
Kelvin Kiptum, who had recently made a mark in history, sadly passed away at the age of 24 on Sunday night, February 12th.
The cause of his death was a car accident, with authorities stating that the vehicle lost control, veered into a ditch, and collided with a large tree.
Kiptum and his Rwandan coach, Gervais Hakizimana, tragically lost their lives in the crash. Fortunately, a female passenger survived and was recently discharged from the hospital.
Kiptum was married to Asenath Rotich, and together they had two children. They had intended to travel to Rotterdam in April.
Kelvin Kiptum parents express that their dreams and hopes have been shattered with the passing of their son.
His father recalls that just one day before the accident, Kelvin had made a promise to build them a house and purchase him a car through his running accomplishments.
