Joyce Lapinsky tied the knot with her husband, Richard Lewis, on January 2, 2005. A year before their official marriage ceremony, Richard proposed, and the two joyfully became engaged.
The couple stayed married until Richard’s passing on February 28, 2024. The ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ actor passed away on February 27, 2024, following a heart attack.
In 1998, about seven years before Richard and his wife tied the knot, they first crossed paths at Ringo Starr’s album release party while she worked in music publishing.
As per a 2010 interview with Paul Freeman, Lewis recounted that Lapinsky was the one who got straight to the point when they first met at that party.

In Lewis’s recollection of the conversation, he remembered Joyce mentioning she was Italian and 33. Following that, she asserted, “Let’s nip this in the bud. I’m 42. I’m a Jew from Minnesota. So if that bugs you… And if children are a major thing…”
After encountering her at that memorable party, Lewis vividly recalled confiding in famed sportscaster Bob Costas, “I met the woman I’m going to marry.”
Despite their nearly two-decade marriage, Joyce and her late spouse did not have children together. In his marriage, Lewis finally found the love and laughter he had always sought.
In an interview before his passing, Richard reminisced about the frequent occasions he and his wife spent with the late actress Phyllis Diller.
He shared, “Phyllis [Diller] was like the mother I never had who loved my work, saw my shows, called me. My wife and I would go to her house often, and she’d take me out to dinner.”
