Yolanda Saldivar is still alive and currently serving a life sentence at the Gatesville facility, southwest of Waco, for the heartbreaking murder of the beloved luminary Selena Quintanilla.
Yolanda Saldivar was born on September 19, 1960, in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas.
Yolanda was a registered nurse initially earning $60,000 annualy; however, after adopting three children, she had to transition to part-time work.
She cultivated a deep fascination for Tejano music, leading her to attend concerts featuring a diverse range of artists within the genre.
Yolanda worked at St. Luke’s Lutheran Hospital as a nurse and later proceeded to work at two more hospitals within the subsequent four years.
Unfortunately, later in her life, Yolanda Saldivar, a nurse entrusted with preserving lives, tragically ended one instead.

Yolanda Saldivar is still alive and now 63 years old. She has served half of her life behind bars and remains confined to this day.
Saldivar, infamous for the murder of Tejano music sensation Selena Quintanilla, received a life sentence on October 23, 1995, for her heinous crime.
Selena Quintanilla, revered as the “Queen of Tejano Music,” was an international diva known for her multifaceted talent, excelling as a singer, songwriter, actress, and fashion designer.
Before the tragic event unfolded, Yolanda served as the president of Selena’s fan club and later assumed the role of manager at Selena’s boutique.
Yolanda subsequently encountered accusations of embezzling funds from both the boutique and the club. When Selena’s father discovered that he fired her from both positions.
On March 31, 1995, SaldÃvar tricked Selena into going to a motel room in Corpus Christi, Texas, to get some financial papers.
SaldÃvar claimed that she was going to be raped and shot Selena in the right shoulder using a 38 Taurus Model 85 revolver.
Even though Selena managed to run to the lobby of the motel, she collapsed and unfortunately died on the spot.
The trial for Selena’s murder took place in October, six months after the incident. Yolanda defended herself by stating that the murder was unintentional.
She was found guilty and given a life sentence in prison, with a chance for parole after 30 years. She could be eligible for parole in March 2025.

The series promises to offer a new perspective on the events leading up to Selena’s death, with Saldivar sharing her side of the story.
The title “Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them” suggests that the series will explore previously unknown details about their relationship and the circumstances surrounding the murder.
In the series trailer, Saldivar stated,
Regardless, it is undeniably disheartening that the world lost Selena Quintanilla, a shining star far too soon.
