Despite being placed on a ventilator for an extended period, her son survived. A year later, she gave birth to her second child, a daughter, after another challenging pregnancy.
Following her daughter’s birth, Cori and her partner found themselves unhoused and lived out of their car with the two babies for several months.
During this difficult period, she relied on fast food restaurants to mix formula for her newborns and kept their belongings in trash bags in the back of the vehicle.
