Hassan Emilio Kabande Kaija, popular by the stage name Peso Pluma, has become one of the most successful singers of Lebanese Mexican ethnicity of 2023.
Peso topped the charts as the most-watched artist on YouTube in the U.S. for 2023. He excels in corridos tumbados, seamlessly fusing singing and rapping with a contemporary vibe inspired by hip-hop and reggaeton, yet still rooted in traditional music styles.
The Mexican singer achieved moderate success with his first two studio albums, Ah y Qué? released in 2020, and Efectos Secundarios, which was released in 2021.
Then, with the release of “El Belicón” in 2022 with Raul Vega, it sold 480.000 units and became certified 8x Platinum Latin certification by RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
Furthermore, Peso embarked on the Billboard Global 200 with the release of the extended play Sembrando and the 5x Platinum Latin-certified controversial duet “Siempre Pendientes” with Luis R. Conriquez.
His third album, “Génesis”, is in the running for best Música Mexicana album at the upcoming Grammys in February.
Taking about his recent achievements, Peso Pluma has become one of the headliners, along with Maluma, Ivan Cornejo, and Rauw Alejandro, for the all-Latin music event in Chicago’s Sueños Music Festival for the two-day celebration on May 25 and 26 at Grant Park.

Peso Pluma Ethnicity – Where Is He From?
Peso Pluma ethnicity finds its origins in his multicultural heritage. Born on 15 June 1999, Peso hails from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, but currently resides in the United States.
Due to Peso’s mixed heritage, his songs are a mixture of dual composition of culture and themes from both American and Mexican parts.
Both parts are well known for their unique fusion of rich musical traditions and identities.

Peso Pluma Parents
Since Peso Pluma has a multicultural ethnicity, his parents both held from different ethnicity.
There are claims that the father’s name of Peso Pluma is Hassam Kadame Toledo. His mother’s name is Rubà Laija DÃaz. The parents of Peso Pluma are both of different descent.
While his father has Lebanese ancestry and was born in Chiapas, his mother’s relatives were residents of Badiraguato, Sinaloa.
Both parents were born in Mexico but later relocated to San Antonio, New York, United States, when Peso was a teenager.
