Kids Abuse And Prison Sentence
In December, Ruby Franke pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse, acknowledging that she had subjected her children to torture, including her now 12-year-old son who escaped from Jodi Hildebrandt’s home.
In the plea agreement, which contained distressing details of abuse, Franke confessed that her son was frequently restrained, and her nine-year-old daughter was forced to perform manual labor outdoors in scorching heat without water or shoes.
Both children were often told they were possessed, and their punishments were portrayed as necessary for their well-being.
According to court documents reviewed by KUTV, the boy informed officials that Hildebrandt had bound him and used homemade remedies to treat wounds caused by the restraints.
The prosecutor stated after the hearing that each could face up to 30 years in prison, the maximum penalty available under Utah law.
Franke has been sentenced to four consecutive prison terms, as reported by CBS News affiliate KUTV.
These terms could range from one to 15 years each, with the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole responsible for determining the actual prison time. Franke has 30 days to appeal the decision.
