Although her parents divorced before she was born, Eliza’s mother, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, played a pivotal role in raising Eliza and her three brothers within the faith.

Eliza attended Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and later graduated from Watertown High School.

Despite both of her parents not being involved in entertainment, Eliza made her debut as a ten-year-old in the lead role of Alice in the 1992 romantic drama film That Night.

Subsequently, she has appeared in numerous films, sharing the screen with acclaimed actors such as Robert De Niro, Ellen Barkin, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Reiser, and Jim Belushi.

Judith Ann Rasmussen was born on March 1942 in Rexburg, Idaho, US, as one of the three daughters of Barbara Porter Hegsted and Richard Rasmussen.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Brigham Young University in 1964, followed by a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University in 1966.

Joining Suffolk University in Boston, she taught for over 45 years and held administrative roles.

Her academic focus includes comparative politics, international law, and American government.

Dushku actively participated in UN conferences on women, led study trips to various countries, and received recognition, including being voted Suffolk University Professor of the Year and a Fulbright Senior Specialist on the “Politics of Post-Communist Transition.”

Later, from 2001 to 2003, Judy Dushku served as the Dean of Suffolk University’s Dakar, Senegal campus.

During her time in Dakar, she encountered survivors of child soldiers and refugees. Following a 2009 study trip to Uganda, she, along with her family, founded the charity Thrive-Gulu in Northern Uganda, focusing on rehabilitation, literacy, and empowerment.

The project collaborates with the LDS Church and receives support from various sources, including international aid agencies and NGOs like Save the Children.

Father Philip Dushku Was A School Teacher

Philip Richard George Dushku, a devoted school teacher and administrator, spent his formative years in Boston’s ‘South End’ and actively engaged in the United South End Settlements’ summer program on Squam Lake, New Hampshire.

Committed to extending similar opportunities to Boston’s youth, he dedicated many summers as both an employee and volunteer.

In 2011, he took a leading role in the program’s initiative to include girls. Philip’s unwavering commitment to the organization earned him the prestigious Gigi Pieri Lifetime Service Award.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Worcester State College, a Master of Education from Boston State College, and later, a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University.

Throughout his career with Boston Public Schools, Philip achieved recognition for his significant contribution in developing the ‘RECAP Program,’ helping high school ‘drop-outs’ return to the path of graduation.

Unfortunately, Philip passed away in 2018 after battling a prolonged illness.
